Heat shone down as I lay
Lay back again cool forgiving arms
Arms that are liquid, fluid, endless
Like a soft sigh after he says, “I love you.
You, with your gentle dips and curves.”
Curves like the ocean stretching over the horizon
Beyond where I can even dream of reaching
Reaching out to meet my outstretched fingers
Fingers that create patterns upon the ocean’s surface
I sway in arms that are as long as time is old
Old as half-remembered dreams of other hands
Hands and wrist and arms, loving, calm, tranquil
Sun-kissed by the sun, cooled by the waves
Waves that hold me tenderly,
Tenderly, quietly, soothingly
